Charlotte Alumni Chapter Breaks Single Day Record For Salvation Army Holiday Kettle Drive
When you hear that familiar bell ringing outside stores this holiday season, Salvation Army officials want you to know that the local area families you're being asked to help likely haven't been in as dire need as they are now.
As part of our Guide Right initiative, the chapter participates each year in the Salvation Army kettle drive. On Saturday, December 5, 2009, the chapter manned the kettles at the Walmart (7735 N. Tryon St.) in University City.
The chapter collected nearly $2,000, capturing the single day record of the local kettle drive. Congratulations are due to Brother Conyus Johnson for leading the effort and all members who participated this year. This is one of the many ways that the Charlotte Kappas are committed to helping the greater Charlotte-Mecklenburg community and families in need this holiday season.
